Nicola Catena was a pioneer of high-altitude viticulture in Mendoza. He planted his first Malbec vineyards in Mendoza in 1902. Since the mid-1960s, Nicolas’s grandson has spent his career building Catena in to one of the world’s best wineries, emulating what his mentor Robert Mondavi achieved in California. The Catena wines are a blend of single varietal lots from the Catena family’s vineyards in Mendoza, Argentina.Ripe, concentrated dark fruit aromas with delicate floral notes and traces of vanilla and mocha. Rich and lush on the palate, with concentrated black cherry and red currant fruit flavours layered with sweet spices, tobacco and a touch of leather. The finish presents soft, supple tannins with bright, crisp acidity and a flinty minerality which gives the wine exceptional length. Pair with cassoulet and steak.
