The Quinta do Infantado Ports are grown, made and bottled at the Quinta (Estate). The Quinta is located near Pinhão, at an altitude of 150 metres above sea level, in a sub-region called Gontelho, which has long been renowned as a source of outstanding Port. This winery was established in 1816 by D. Pedro IV, the Portuguese crown heir, as a winery was needed to collect taxes, which were then paid in grapes or wine. This is the origin of the Quinta’s name: Infantado derives from Infante, the Portuguese for Prince. Prince D. Pedro IV later became Emperor of Brazil. The Roseira family has owned Quinta do Infantado for over a century. This port has a light tawny colour, flavours of dry fruits and hints of citrus fruits. Medium weight in the mouth, elegant and long on the finish.more ↓ less ↑
