Shawsgate is the leading Suffolk winery, first planted in 1973 near Framlingham with mostly white varieties. With six hectares of vineyards now planted and a modern winemaking facility, including plenty of stainless steel and a temperature-regulated cellar, Shawsgate also make wine for several other Suffolk vineyards and have become something of a winemaking hub in this area. A young vibrant rose wine with an attractive rich strawberry hue, bags of berry fruit aromas and a delicious palate. A crisp acidity is well matched by the natural sweetness, with redcurrant and raspberry flavours to finish. While many roses lend themselves just to the summer months, the richness of this wine means it is well matched to a variety of dishes throughout the year, especially tomato based pasta dishes.
