*Veritas Gold Award 2015 - South Africa's Most Prestigious Wine Awards*
Established in 1692, Spier is one of South Africa's most historic wine producers. Set on the banks of the Eerste River with breathtaking views of the Stellenbosch Mountains, this award-winning wine farm is not only one of the oldest but also most developed wine estates, boasting beautifully restored Cape Dutch heritage buildings and South Africa’s oldest dated wine cellar. Its central ethos is of sustainablility, and working in harmony with nature.
This is a rich and complex Chenin Blanc, with soft aromas of soft apricot and vanilla on the nose. After 14 months ageing in Old and New French Oak, this wine is rounded and honeyed on the palate, with flavours of peaches and almonds. Long and classy finish. Perfect as an aperitif or with food - try with crispy pork belly, duck breast or pate.
"Quintessential South African Chenin in an understated style, providing both exotic and classic tension. Cashew and oatmeal-touched aromas, and gorgeous apple pie and warm cinammon flavours with honey, cream, apricot and nectarine around a steely core. VIbrant and expressive - a really tasty example." - Decanter World Wine Awards 2014more ↓ less ↑
