One of the most exceptional of the small independent sherry houses, Fernando de Castilla was revitalised in 1999 by Jan Pettersen, a Norwegian gone native with a passion for top quality sherry. In just a decade since then, Fernando de Castillo has earned a very high profile, and established itself as one of the outstanding producers in Jerez, consistently producing excellent sherry and winning a string of awards. This is a particularly elegant sherry with lifted aromas of aged flor and raisin, opening onto a palate of harmony, spice and layered balance. It is a truly haunting and bewitching wine that serves as a perfect companion to cured hard cheeses such as Manchego or Parmesan, or try with pâté and apricot chutney. For something sweeter, also try with gingerbread.
